Of the 232 books I have read in my own time since 2019, 96 or 41% of them were written by women. Annie Ernaux filled out the list, but I read a wide range of women authors without ever really meaning to or being concious of the fact. I can pat myself on the back or maybe use this self-satisfied feeling as a pillow; a half-deflated pillow. I haven’t the demographically correct 50% yet. Please Annie put a few more books out.
